Enterprise Solution Design
For an IT digital transofrmation project, Enterprise Solution Design should deliberately be a holistic process that seeks to understand and define all contributing components of the enterrpise, the relationships between them, and importantly, how growth can be accommodated in an agile methodology without significant cost or restructure of the solution core.
This includes a comprehensive definition and thorough structual understanding of the organization across the entire enterprise, including:
- All legal entities, legislations in which they operate, and currencies in which they trade
- The required relational transacitonal multiple ledgers
- Business units and the purpose classification of each business unit activity as a driver of margin or as a facilitator and enabler of function
- Dimensional pyramid hierarchical design to facilitate reporting and performance visibility across the enterprise
- The products, customers, suppliers and contractors with whom they interact
- The user defined role of employees, their connection with legal entities and their association with business units
The Sapience process of Enterprise Solution Design will generate a blueprint for organisational reporting without significant costs in report development because data can be pulled together across the entitiy with common reporting tools from a single universe of data that is transacted and relationally updated in real time.
Technically, the Enterprise Solution Design will also provide for solution architecture across logical system represenation, physical componentry and service appliances, and importantly security methodologies for authentication, encryption, business continuity and disaster recovery.
Extensive research highlights the alarming failure rate of enterprise software implementation, much to the dissappointment of executive expectations. With approximately one-third being abandoned with alarming sunken cost write-offs, a third partially reaching a go live status, and only a third testifying to a high value outcome that reflected initial expectations, the critical question becomes what is the points of difference that drives success or failure? Often the answer is in one of 3 areas: people, product or process, however a deeper investigation will often reveal a faulty, or entire absence of, an Enterprise Solution Design document.
Our Master Plan implementation strategies, together with a library of thousands of business processes and experienced Solution Architects will ensure your project has the right reference documentation to progress methodically and within the uncompromising iron triangle of time, cost and scope.
